Fire Evacuation Plan for Boarding Kennel

In the event of a fire emergency, the safety and well-being of your pets are our top priority. We have a comprehensive fire evacuation plan in place to ensure their protection. Please familiarise yourself with the following procedures:

    1. Stay Informed
    • Like our Facebook page and ensure your emergency contacts do the same. We will use Facebook to post updates whenever possible, but please understand that time constraints may apply.
    • Emergency Alerts
    • In case of a Watch and Act or Emergency warning, we will immediately initiate the following steps:
    • Shut off the air-conditioning.
      • Secure all pets indoors.
      • Wet the surroundings of the building.
      • Dampen pets and their bedding.
      • Place wet towels at all external doors, including doggy doors.
      • Begin the evacuation process.
    • Use of Fire Safety Equipment
    • Our facility is equipped with fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and large hoses with fire nozzles. We will utilise these resources to the best of our abilities to combat the fire.
    • Property Preparedness
    • We have worked closely with the local Rural Fire Service (RFS) and their Captain has inspected our premises. He believes our property is well-prepared and easily defensible. However, it’s important to remember that fires can be unpredictable.
    • Evacuation
    • If the situation escalates to the point where an evacuation is necessary, our primary goal is to ensure the safety of all animals and staff. Please follow these guidelines:
    • Ensure your contact information is up-to-date.
      • If you need to contact us call the kennel reception on 02 6026 3830 in the first instance. If you are unable to get through, leave a message
      • Messages may also be sent to us via the Facebook Messenger App.
      • If you are unable to reach the facility, please contact the local authorities for assistance.
    • Emergency Contacts
    • Ensure that your emergency contacts are aware of our evacuation procedures and can collect your pets if you’re unable to do so yourself.

We are committed to the safety and well-being of your pets. While we have taken every possible precaution to protect them, please remember that safety is a shared responsibility, and your cooperation is essential. We appreciate your trust in our boarding kennel and will do everything within our power to keep your pets safe during a fire emergency.
